This beautiful bighorn posed for us for several mi

This beautiful bighorn posed for us for several minutes, giving the kiddos a good show. We also saw an endangered california condor and a bobcat! The bobcat had killed a deer right on the main trail. We had to stop for over an hour while the rangers hazed the little guy away from us and moved the deer. No pics of that! Always an adventure in the canyon.

I was reminiscing about the days we used to be able to photograph from the edge of Maroon Lake, and so I edited this image I created in 2017. Because of the crowds, there is now a rope around the lake for protection. This is but one of the reasons we need to respect our planet, in hopes these areas will remain for future generations. 🌲🌎

When you don't see the "big scene", look to smalle

When you don't see the "big scene", look to smaller compositions. On a bright afternoon when the mountains were hazy, I found this creek full of colorful rocks. It was flowing quickly and reminded me of the quote "No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man." Made famous by Greek philosopher Heraclitus, it has always been one of my favorite thoughts.
