Last month, Kendrick and I represented nüCamp RV at the Overland Expo West – a professional trade show for camping and vehicle equipment to get you out and overlanding.
While I was walking around the show, I was overwhelmed by all of the options! I had no idea so much was out there! We realized that some of you may not know much about what “Overlanding” is – let alone where to start in choosing a rig!

I like the idea of using my Subaru Forester to pull something like your Boondocks trailer. I think despite my disability, left leg slightly paralyzed from series of strokes, I can still hook it up, level it out and manage it. I have no problem driving my Suby currently and have trailered over fifty years on farm trailers and wagons. I could parallel park my Ram 2500 Diesel with the Dumptrailer on it when I was hauling grain to my cattle four years ago!

Hi Judi! You sound like one tough cookie! Haha, with your background I’m sure you would have no problem towing a T@G or T@B. I’m always telling people they are so much easier to manage than they think! The only piece of advice I would give you is to make sure you know the towing capacity of your Subaru and stay well below it. Happy Camping!

What happened to the braids?? Your haircuts look very similar now. Hope Kendrick is feeling ok…he seemed a little low energy in the video. Thanks for the informative video! I am not ready to go too far off the beaten path yet….just vanning it.

Hi MereMyst! I LOVED my long hair, but it was just getting to be so much to manage that I chopped about 14″ off! I grows so very fast though that it will be long again before you know it. I can still braid little short braids, I guess I just didn’t for this video! Kendrick is good… He gets very serious when he has something important to say 🙂

Nice Overlanding summary Mandy & Kendrick. A lot of people ask what makes their vehicle an Overlander or not…but it really is about the journey more than the gear. An aspiration to disconnect with technology and reconnect with nature is my own definition, but there are many. I have a teardrop and an OzTent RV-2 30 second tent…depending on my destination I’ll use one, the other, or both. Actually sold my Roof Top Tent for the reasons you noted, plus a big one…they are over 100lbs. and getting them on and off is a pain on an SUV. Safe travels!

Your question at the end of the video say “Overloading” which to me is partying to the point I don’t know where I am… Now Overlanding is “boondocking “.. no outside power sources (except solar) nor resources obtained through payment….. Love your photography btw…
