18 Camper Mods to Remodel your Home & Heart

It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home.

It doesn’t matter where you are, or what size your home is. Whether you live alone or surrounded by loved ones. We all need a place to call home – a place to belong.

Finding this place is a challenge for those who dare to live outside the norm. In a world of commerce, where the size of your house is expected to reflect the success of your life’s pursuits. How do these brave nomads find a place to center their being? Rather than gather belongings to construct a house around ourselves – we gather experiences, love, and friendships and with these build a stable home.

However, I am not a fool to think there are not logistical comforts to be had. In this video you will learn 18 of my favorite camper modifications. These “camper hacks” are not only incredibly useful, but each one has helped me turn my ever-moving house into a home.

  1. Great video! Thanks for some ideas to add to ours too. The pvc storage for your jack handle is one we did ourselves too, the hinges under the bed is one thar we are going to do too, and the stick idea, my wife is already doing. One that we are considering is removing the microwave and using the space for more storage. We have found that we dont use it very much anyway, and if we off grid camp its useless too. One question about the license holder, is it lighted? Some states require it.

    • Okay – you caught me there. I opted for the “ask forgiveness not permission” route with the plate light. However, I know they sell some battery operated lights you could mount if you don’t want to mess with rewiring anything. You’d just have to turn it on and off.

  2. Love to see you getting “Phoenix ” dialed in ! Happy trails , Mandy . 💛🌞

  3. Hi Mandy Lea, we recently bought a 2016 T@G and I LOVE the “Mandy Cabinet” mod for the TV. Do you have any photos or tips on that project?

    • I don’t have many photos, I just did it in a day and kind of made it up as I went! The most difficult part was finding a wood stain to match the cabinets! I used a thicker piece of wood for the door so that the hinges would be stronger, and I also stained the inside to match just because I’m OCD. But just so you know…. if you ever happen to be driving through Ohio – you can stop in the factory and they will do this mod for you same day! It’s pretty cheap too… I think around $150 or so.

  4. Thanks, Mandy. We love your vids. Your passion and dedication is obvious and you’ve helped encourage my husband and I to get out more and disconnect (in a glampy way) from our corporate lives and reconnect with our humanity. Looking forward to cooler temperatures and our first adventure.

    • Then I think my job here is done 😉 congratulations on you new outlook on life. You’re going to love it.

  5. Mandy, My husband and I have really enjoyed your blog and photos. We own a Camp-Inn teadrop 550 ultra and are going on a cross country trip for 10 weeks. Every time we look at your site , the both of us comment on your bedding. Where did you purchase your bedding including the fox pillow. We love it. Thank you : ) Rick and Debbie Busch

    • Hi Deborah! Thank you so much for the kind comment!!
I assume you are talking about the orange/gray bedding… I used that in my orange t@g, Phoenix. Believe it or not that was a duvet cover from Target! The fox pillow too was also at Target… in the kids section. It was a few year ago so I’m guessing they don’t have it anymore, but I would bet you could find it on Amazon.
